Vacation Time!

 Lather, Rinse, Repeat.  Up at 7:30.  On the pool deck by 8:30.  Lunch at restaurant at Noon.  And here’s where some adventure comes in - someone “borrowed” on of our deck chairs while we were at lunch.  No, they were not sitting in it, but they had moved it and put their stuff on it.  Why do I say it was “ours?”  Because the resort gives you flags to post on the chair allowing you to claim it for the day so long as you do not abandon it for more than 2 consecutive hours - which we had not done.  Besides, my shoes were still sitting under the chair.  To me, no worries.  After putting on more sunscreen I will rightfully reclaim my chair and apologize for their misunderstanding should there be any type of confrontation. Sandy and I beat Shelby and Nick back to the pool deck.  I politely take any extra stuff - towels, sunscreen, shoes - and relocate it to another one of their chairs.  Then we turn our chairs to face W so we g...

 Up by 7:30 local and at the pool deck by 9.  Chairs are a premium as there are more people here than what we anticipated based solely on our own biased opinions of when people come down here!  No worries.  Nick and Shelby joined us presently.  We stayed until 11:30 when we went to the poolside restaurant for lunch.  Back to our chairs.  Called it about 4:30 as we had absorbed enough sun for a day. Dinner tonight was at the Hacienda Sisal, a local restaurant here on the resort site.  We had reservations for 6 pm.  After dinner we returned to our room for more cards - Bid Euchre.  We finally let the girls win a single game just so they would know what it feels like to be a winner.  Then we won the next two games.  The scores were closer this round and a fun fact is that only the boys (who are stupid and take more chances) have been set, in 7 full games!  The girls have a perfect bid record.  We shall work to change tha...

 Sandy and I crashed at 8 pm Saturday night and we did not get up this morning until 8 am.  We put on our suits and slathered before heading to the pool.  Sandy met Nick and Shelby at the pastry shop for breakfast.  And then we waited until 11 am for the bar to open.   We ate lunch at the pool restaurant.  We re-slathered with sunscreen and then stayed at the pool for drinks, naps, and dips to cool off before calling it a day at 5:30.  We took showers and then played two games of cards before heading off to dinner.  Tonight’s fare was not the buffet but a full menu.  Nick and I had fish and the girls had chicken. We did meet our concierge at the pool this morning.  She set us up with reservations for three evening meals - two here at the resort and one steak house off-site.  Other than that, we have no trips / excursions planned.  Our goal is a solid week of lounging around the pool and occasionally checking out the ocean - whi...

 It was very early in the morning, like 3:00 o’clock early, when we got up on Saturday, April 26th.  We took showers, fed the pets, and then picked up Nick and Shelby to head for the airport.  It was cooler than predicted, like in the low 40’s (4 C).  And while Sandy and I got about 4 hours sleep, those two “youngsters” stayed up all night! Our flight touched down in Cancun at 9:30 am, which is one hour behind home.  We breezed thru Customs and Immigration and took a taxi to the Royal Sands hotel on the island of Cancun.  Our rooms were not ready yet because we arrived before the previous guests checked out.  So we did what we had to do - ate lunch at the poolside restaurant where Shelby stated, “This is my seat for the rest of the week” as she looked out over the ocean as we sat in a now balmy 81 degrees (27 C).
