Vacation Time!

 It’s Saturday and we are packed and ready to head for the airport.  Before we did that, we hit the pool deck by 0800.  Then we turned in our towels, took showers and organized how to get all our junk back home.  I think we made it as both our bags are under 40# (50# weight limit).  Our flight leaves about 2:30, arriving in Indy about 6:30.  Should be home by 8 pm tonight. Sandy took this photo of the beach as she collected sand for the grandkids.  We return in November to our home away from home - a short six months from now. As Jimmy Buffet said, “Mother Mother Ocean, I have heard you call…”

 On this day, 38 years ago, little Kathy D. (Seager) Martin was born.  To celebrate we all had drinks today.  In fact, we sent her some photos of us enjoying her birthday.  Other than that, today was our last full day in Cancun on this trip.  We leave for Indy at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon. Today was more of the same.  At the pool by 8 am.  Lunch there on the pool deck.  Called it a day at 4 to go take showers.  Walked down the street to Puerto Mudero (a local steak house) where we all had, you guessed it, steak for dinner!  Awesome meal. Back to the room for more cards.  We let the girls get close but in the end, we kept thumping them.  Boys final win count = 22.  Girls?  2.  Not a typo.  TWO wins. Started the packing process.  Will finish in the morning and then head to the airport for a travel day.  Great trip.  Relaxing.  Awesome weather.  Be back in six months.  Enjoy the phot...

 It’s Thursday.  We are still in Cancun enjoying the beach, pool, maid service, and bartenders!  Hit the pool  by 9.  Took a normal lunch and were back in our chairs by 1 pm.  Called it at 4, took showers and then a taxi to La Isla - the shopping mall about a mile up the road.  Bought stuff for the grandkids, some flavored tequila, and then ate dinner there.  Back to our rooms for some more cards, and here is an interesting story. Game 1 of bid euchre tonight.  I deal.  Mom gives an opening bid.  Nick says, I’m going to Shoot the Moon in low.  To my disbelief he says this because I too have a Moon Shooter in diamonds.  Nick grabs the kitty and has a lay down without taking a card from me, his partner.  Looking at the kitty, I too have a lay down without taking a card from him!  Impossible odds!  Two lay down shooters in the same hand without needing an additional 5th card.  First hand, two shooters, gam...

 Lost count of the days.  And I am late posting as no one sent me any pictures to post.  We’re still alive and well.  Wednesday was pretty close to a repeat of previous days… Up and at the pool deck before 0900.  Lunch at pool restaurant.  Called it early as the women had signed up for a wine-tasting, pizza-eating, art class that was to start at 3 pm.  Except our concierge told them the wrong time.  It actually started at 4 pm.  Ate dinner at the Bistro here in the resort instead of having the buffet.  Boys had steak and lobster with a few rum & cokes.  Back to the room for more Bid Euchre.  Boys won them all.  I think the total score is now 14-1 in favor of the Good Guys!  I texted Unger to tell him it was because “That’s what winners do!  Win!” I did wear my Father’s Day shirt from Kathy that reads “Awesome Like My Daughter.”  I was stopped thrice and one guy even wanted to know if he could buy one her...
