Cancun Day 1 - 25 NOV 2016
After crashing at about 11 pm Thanksgiving night, the alarm went off at 3 am this morning. Our flight went wheels up at 0710 in Indy. We hit Atlanta, grabbed a quick bite during our 45 minute layover, and then headed off to Cancun.
We arrived here 15 minutes early, so we sat on the tarmac while a gate came open. We made it through immigration, got our luggage (Sandy's was about 3rd off the plane!), and then through customs. We made it to the hotel by 12:15. We checked in and then had our credit card denied.
Yes, I called the credit card companies last night and told them that we would be in Mexico and the charges most likely were legitimate. So we headed downstairs and ordered lunch. While I sipped on liquid refreshment, I called the credit card company again. It seems that our paying for a taxi at the airport and then trying to put a week's worth of hotel charges on the card within 30 minutes tripped the Fraud alert. Criminals will try small charges to see if they have a real card (the $45 taxi fee). Then they buy everything they can once it clears (like the $2k hotel bill). I cleared the fraud and after lunch we tried to pay again. Still denied. Not happy now. I called back. After much discussion to verify that I really am me, a 24 open access was granted whereby any and all fees will go through - so any of you all that have our numbers, get on it!
We got to the room and I took a nap. Sandy strolled around and bought some drinks for the room. She read a while. And then it was dinner time. We went downstairs to the Shrimp banquet next door. It was a pretty good dinner. Back to the room for some Wheel of Fortune before calling it a night.
Cancun, right now, is on the same time as Indiana. Sandy and I have both have our cell phones. Should you need us, give one of them a ring or text.
Have already checked in back home. All is well here.

A picture from last March, just to tease everyone at home!
