Bahama's - Day Last - Fri 30 NOV 2018

Up earlier this morning and at the pool by 9:30 am.  The wind was down some and the temperatures were up.  Stayed by the pool until lunch, then ate at the hotel restaurant.  Awesome as usual.  Then to the beach for more sun, and according to Sandy, some naps and snoring on my part.  I did get a swim in at the beach today.

The water was as high as we have seen it all week.  We had white caps that approached 10, maybe 12 inches total.  So yeah, the water is seriously calm down here.

Another thing we did notice was the amount of people has quadrupled today.  We have gone from being the only ones in the restaurants to having like 4 or 5 other people in there with us.  We chatted a few of them up.  Seems like this is a great "long weekend" get away location.  At least that's what the ladies did who we talked to.

Check-out is 10 am, but our flight is not until 3.  So, we have packed all our clothes.  We will check-out at 10, but there are showers here we can use, so we are not going to head for the airport until after lunch. 

Things we talked of changing for the better if we were ever to do this trip again:
1.  Remember to pack all one's clothes
2.  Rent the car right away
3.  Get the suite.  Our small bed - we're done with it.
4.  Better weather, but we have no control over that.
Everything else has been great.  Especially Sandy's company.  She's had great company this week!

We FaceTimed Will this afternoon.  He has big plans on helping us with our Christmas tree upon our return.  He also said that next time Grandma and Papaw take vacation, he should come with us so that he could ride on the pool slide.  Great idea...

We think we have all our shopping done down here.  If not, oh well too late.  This will probably be our last post to this blog for a while.  Our next trip won't be until March 2019, so stay tuned - as we sit here listening to Christmas music play in the atrium of the hotel.

Cancun Day 2 - Sunday, March 10

 Will and Alex joined me and Grandma Sandy for breakfast.  The fruit smoothies were the biggest hit.  The rest of the crew slept in and joined us at the pool later.  Those grandkids are little fish.  We had to force them to take breaks.  They would still be there if we let them! We had lunch by the pool and then made the kids relax for about an hour before hitting the kiddie pool - with slides.  We hit the beach, swam in the ocean a bit and then built sand castles.  We returned to the pool for the entire afternoon. We ate dinner as a group of 12 at the buffet here in the resort.  Hadley fell asleep at the table and Will just barely made it through his ice cream before they all headed off to bed.  They were out by 7:30 pm.  The grandkids were exhausted but having a great time down here. It was hot today, 90 F with little to no breeze at all.  There was a heat index warning as the humidity was up, making it feel a lot hotter.  No complaints though as the pool feels great! Retirement Party Cancun 2024 - Day 1

 Sandy and I are both now officially retired as I hung it up Saturday, 09 MAR - which happened to coincide with us traveling to Cancun for a party with the family.  It was a real short night though as we started our drive to Indy at 3:30am.  The airport was busy, but not packed.  We waited in line to check-in but breezed thru Security.  We were delayed leaving the tarmac but only arrived in Mexico 20 mins behind our original arrival time. It seems that we got lucky as flights were getting delayed or canceled all around us.  Upon arrival in Mexico, we never even stopped in line thru Immigration as there were that many agents open and no one there checking in.  It was awesome.  Luggage took a while as you could imagine, but we made it onto the bus at 11:30.  The drive to Playa del Carmen took about an hour, then check in, then walk down to lunch.  It was 1:30 pm before we were getting food. Cancun Day 3 - Monday March 11

 We got a text that Will was “starving” at 7:55.  We understood - well, we laughed first.  He slept for 11 hours and it was time to eat.  We agreed to meet for breakfast at 8:15.  Alex, Will, Mallory, and Shelby met me and grandma at the buffet.  What about everyone else?  Kathy and Hadley showed up at the pool about 10.  Nick and Wes sometime around 11.  And we did not see Andy and Austin until after lunch.  And that’s exactly how vacations are supposed to work.  Sleep when you’re tired, eat when you’re hungry, and do it all over again for a week! So today, when the kids decided to build sand castles on the beach, we walked to the other side of the resort - where we found, yes sand, but also fewer rocks and tree stumps in the water.  All but the youngest grandchild went into the ocean again.  Then we collectively built Hadrian’s Wall to protect the castle  before erecting the towers.  This took long enough on all fours that we could feel the sun working too much on our backs.  We call
