Surprise - We're here & so are Kathy and Alex

We pulled it off - getting Kathy and Alex here to join us without Sandy knowing. Surprise! We've planned it for two months and I almost blew it yesterday. Sandy was writing a list of jobs for Nick to perform while we're here. I said, he won't be here because he's house sitting for Kathy. Oops. One white lie later and several texts to get everyone on the same page, and we got it covered.

Flight was very easy. We were the second in line at Immigration. Got from our airplane seats to the hotel in 45 mins. Awesome!

Could not check in until Noon, and it was 9:15. So we went next door and ate breakfast. We sat by the pool and napped. Had to move to get out of the sun. I was watching a movie on this iPad and Sandy was dozing when Kathy threw pool water on her. Kathy said it made her mother's entire week having her daughter here! Me? I'm not so sure.

We all walked next door for lunch after checking in. We hit the sun deck for some warm sunshine. Alex and I swam in the ocean and ordered drinks for everyone.

Yes, 75 degrees, sun, and the beach beat any weather you all got back home.

    And now Sandy is questioning the "white lie" that was told to her yesterday! It was surprise her, so I am sure she will let it slide, this time. ;) Have a great time and have a drink for us!

Cancun Day 2 - Sunday DEC 1

Most of us slept 12 hours, but one of us (Lorra) got up at 4:30 and went down to reserve our chairs.  Folks straggled in, but we were all sunbathing by 10 am.  We took our own drinks down to the pool since the swim-up bar does not open until 11.  You can bet the house on the fact that we were there waiting at 10:55 am for our second round of drinks. We ate lunch at the pool-side restaurant and then some of us went for a swim in the ocean.  It was rough today.  Not sure when I will get the sand out of my ears!  We relaxed in the pool or by the side of the pool until about 4 when the sun went down behind the hotel.  We are in Cancun proper, staying at the Royal Sands.   On this trip are Kathy & Alex (Alex’s parents are at the house handling the grandkids), Hailey Wilson and fiancé Harrison Magee, and Lorra & Adam Archibald (Joe is at the house).  We have Nick and all the grandkids watching our house and feeding the pets while we are gon...

Cancun Day 2 - Sunday, March 10

 Will and Alex joined me and Grandma Sandy for breakfast.  The fruit smoothies were the biggest hit.  The rest of the crew slept in and joined us at the pool later.  Those grandkids are little fish.  We had to force them to take breaks.  They would still be there if we let them! We had lunch by the pool and then made the kids relax for about an hour before hitting the kiddie pool - with slides.  We hit the beach, swam in the ocean a bit and then built sand castles.  We returned to the pool for the entire afternoon. We ate dinner as a group of 12 at the buffet here in the resort.  Hadley fell asleep at the table and Will just barely made it through his ice cream before they all headed off to bed.  They were out by 7:30 pm.  The grandkids were exhausted but having a great time down here. It was hot today, 90 F with little to no breeze at all.  There was a heat index warning as the humidity was up, making it feel a lot hotter. ...

Cancun Day 7 - Fri DEC 6

It was a day like any other day… up and at the pool by 9.  Lunch at the pool restaurant at Noon.  Lots of photos.  Celebrated with shots at 4.  Showers and then dinner at 6 down at the buffet, which was not a buffet tonight but they did have an awesome dessert table - where most folks had more than just a single dessert.  Back to the rooms to pack and clean up.  The other six are leaving in the morning.  We retired folks?  We are staying an additional two days so that we do not have to fly out on a Saturday with the rest of the world - and also because we can stay longer since, as aforementioned, we are retired!
