Cancun Day 3 - Monday 2/1/21

Welcome to February!  The year is one-twelfth over already!  Holy cow, it's goin' fast....

Last night on our way to dinner, we ran into two stray cats and a coati (co-ought-ee) which is a Mexican raccoon.  Fact.  Look it up.  We grabbed some photos.  Enjoy.

Upon our return from dinner, it did not take long before we were horizontal and some of us were snoring.

We rolled out this morning at 8:30.  Lesley did join one other person for Zoomba this morning.  Sandy and I held down chairs at the pool.

We ate lunch at the Luna bar, as has become customary.  Then Todd & Lesley went snorkeling in the ocean.

We played some cornhole with swapping up teams - boys v. girls, couples, etc.  The girls never won and it took a playoff for couples to determine a champion.

We came back to the room, showered, and then headed out to get some sunset pictures before having dinner.  No excitement this evening.

We are considering a dive trip tomorrow - weather dependent.

It hit about 80 this afternoon and at 70 degrees tonight, it actually feels a bit chilly.  Thank goodness the wind kept blowing to keep us cool.  We know, we know, y'all at home having 30 degree weather like, 70?  70??? We may have to throat punch someone...

We got it good.  Early to bed again tonight to catch up on some much needed sleep.  Enjoy the photos.

    Great pictures, even of the kritter, better watch out, the grands may ask for a Mexican raccoon!!! Or 4!!! Looks like everyone is having a great time!! Enjoy!! I go to Mick Isgrigg tomorrow to set things up for 2/23/2021! How about shots???? Is Sandy partaking? Waiting for tomorrow’s blog!!!

    Great pictures, giving us a chance to live vicariously through you all. Todd and Lesley were really excited about about this trip.

Cancun Day 2 - Sunday, March 10

 Will and Alex joined me and Grandma Sandy for breakfast.  The fruit smoothies were the biggest hit.  The rest of the crew slept in and joined us at the pool later.  Those grandkids are little fish.  We had to force them to take breaks.  They would still be there if we let them! We had lunch by the pool and then made the kids relax for about an hour before hitting the kiddie pool - with slides.  We hit the beach, swam in the ocean a bit and then built sand castles.  We returned to the pool for the entire afternoon. We ate dinner as a group of 12 at the buffet here in the resort.  Hadley fell asleep at the table and Will just barely made it through his ice cream before they all headed off to bed.  They were out by 7:30 pm.  The grandkids were exhausted but having a great time down here. It was hot today, 90 F with little to no breeze at all.  There was a heat index warning as the humidity was up, making it feel a lot hotter.  No complaints though as the pool feels great! Retirement Party Cancun 2024 - Day 1

 Sandy and I are both now officially retired as I hung it up Saturday, 09 MAR - which happened to coincide with us traveling to Cancun for a party with the family.  It was a real short night though as we started our drive to Indy at 3:30am.  The airport was busy, but not packed.  We waited in line to check-in but breezed thru Security.  We were delayed leaving the tarmac but only arrived in Mexico 20 mins behind our original arrival time. It seems that we got lucky as flights were getting delayed or canceled all around us.  Upon arrival in Mexico, we never even stopped in line thru Immigration as there were that many agents open and no one there checking in.  It was awesome.  Luggage took a while as you could imagine, but we made it onto the bus at 11:30.  The drive to Playa del Carmen took about an hour, then check in, then walk down to lunch.  It was 1:30 pm before we were getting food. Cancun Day 3 - Monday March 11

 We got a text that Will was “starving” at 7:55.  We understood - well, we laughed first.  He slept for 11 hours and it was time to eat.  We agreed to meet for breakfast at 8:15.  Alex, Will, Mallory, and Shelby met me and grandma at the buffet.  What about everyone else?  Kathy and Hadley showed up at the pool about 10.  Nick and Wes sometime around 11.  And we did not see Andy and Austin until after lunch.  And that’s exactly how vacations are supposed to work.  Sleep when you’re tired, eat when you’re hungry, and do it all over again for a week! So today, when the kids decided to build sand castles on the beach, we walked to the other side of the resort - where we found, yes sand, but also fewer rocks and tree stumps in the water.  All but the youngest grandchild went into the ocean again.  Then we collectively built Hadrian’s Wall to protect the castle  before erecting the towers.  This took long enough on all fours that we could feel the sun working too much on our backs.  We call
