Cancun Day 5 - Wednesday, 03 FEB 2021

Up again early today because it really was dive day.  We were at the dive shop by 0900 to get our wetsuits and gear.  We loaded up and drove out about ten minutes to the reef and dove to 60' on our first tank.  We had a professional photographer with us who took stills and videos.  We saw countless tons of fish, two sea turtles, two eels, a ray, two types of lobsters and just things you cannot see unless you dive.  The water was gorgeous and Cozumel was very easy to see.

We came back into the hotel to pick up some more divers and then went back out again.  This time we went N along the reef without the photographer.  Again we dove to about 60'.  The current was a bit rougher on this dive.  Glad we did not have to swim against it.  There were no sharks today - which is sad for Todd as he wishes to swim with them - but much safer this way.

Sandy hung out here at the resort, taking naps, and eating a good chicken nacho lunch.  We rolled back in at 1 pm.  And then we went to have some chicken nachos as well.

After lunch, it was nap time for the guys.  The girls went to the art shed and painted 'things.'  We called it quits at 4:30 to return to the room for showers.  Sandy and I had reservations for 6:30 at the fancy restaurant here in the resort, Los Morales.  Sandy had a ribeye steak and I had a Cornish hen.

Todd & Lesley had dinner reservations at 7:30 at the Asian restaurant here, Kinoko - where they cook the food on the grill in front of you.  We all agreed that we had great dinners.

After dinner, we called home to chat with the grandkids.  We did get to see most of the kids too, but they were second in line - the babies trump the kids.  Seems like all is well back on the homefront.

We are supposed to get our CV-19 tests performed tomorrow but that has been one big cluster.  We are to show up when the testing site opens with our passports and see if they will either test us or at least put us on the list.  Fun.

On a parting note, if you get the chance to chat with Lesley about her diving experience here in Playa del Carmen, please do ask her where her mask can be found.  She's looking all around the dive boat for her mask.  Have you seen my mask???  Yep, sure have.  It's on your head.

Todd & Lesley on their dinner date tonight

Their chef, Israel, straight from Japan to cook for them (not really - more like
straight from Cancun).

Me & Mama finishing up our dinner date tonight

My hen and Sandy's steak - and I'll tell ya, I felt like such a dork taking
photos of our meals before we ate them.  Were they awesome?  Yes.
Did you need a photo of them?  Again, obviously Yes because here they are!

The girls in the middle of their art projects today

Lesley giving the sea turtle a high five (not really).
That's Todd and then me (left side of photo) coming in to see the sea turtle

A close-up of the Hawksbill sea turtle - so named for the pointed beak-like snout.
Said pointy nose is used to pull sponges from the reef for food.  They also eat jellyfish.

Ascending at the end of our dive (the 4th person is our guide)
