Cancun Day 5 - Wednesday Mar 13

So the littles stayed with Grandma & Papaw last night.  It was an early morning for them.  Wes got up with a nightmare at 3:45.  It was so sweet of Will to try and console him, but once Grandma got there (as Papaw didn’t have a clue), she tucked Wes into bed and he was asleep faster than his head hit the pillow.  Then Will had to use the bathroom about 6:15 and just stayed up.  By the time I walked into the Living Room, all four kids were playing games at 7:30.  I texted their parents and said, “We are on our way to breakfast.”  Then I said, “That was not a warning, it was time for you to meet us there.”  But, we full well knew that neither of our children would make it.  We were hoping that our children-in-laws would come.  Alex made it.

We returned Mallory and Wes to their room and had to ring the doorbell multiple times to get Nick out of bed.  We then went to put on sunscreen and grab some chairs by the pool.  The kids all joined us and we went to build sandcastles - well, everyone but Wes who was in a Time Out for not listening to his parents.  Once all four worked on the “project” it turned out pretty well.

We ate lunch about Noon as we had family photos scheduled for 5 pm.  Poor Will was about finished before his food arrived.  But they all had a rally when Grandma took them to paint some ceramic art - that Austin & Andy had just painted as well.  Then the grandkids went to Chill-ax, as they put it.  Then showers and family photos.  We had a professional photographer take them and she ran us all over the resort getting all kinds of pictures - trees, water, beach, bridge, walkway, grass.  We grabbed a couple of her taking the professional ones.  It will be a neat comparison when we get them back.

Dinner was Italian night at the buffet downstairs.  After dinner, everyone but Hadley and Alex came back to our room for games.  Why not Hadley?  She didn’t even make it back to her bed - she crashed in a hammock halfway there.  I bet if Daddy didn’t wake her and take her to her bed, we’d find Hadley still sleeping there in the morning.

Andy & Austin still don’t know how to play Euchre.  They lost 3-1 tonight to Me & Nick.  Sandy and Shelby didn’t fair much better - losing 2-0.  Kathy even tried, but she and Sandy lost to Me & Nick 1-0.  Kathy took Will back to bed about 9 pm.  The other two kids crashed in our spare bedroom and they had to be woken to return to their room at 10 pm.

Breakfast at the buffet this morning.  They’ve been up 2 hours already at this point.

Will’s three-towered sand fort.  He’s building a wall now.

Hailey’s tower that everyone will work to join with Will’s fortress.

Will is drinking a banana monkey - which has become a favorite of all the grandkids.

You can tell by his tongue sticking out!

Here’s Kathy’s family running at the photographer.  This is what we saw.
Will be a neat comparison to what she captured professionally.

That’s little Miss Hadley passed out in a hammock
